From the 70s into the new century, there was an outbreak of Recovered Memory Therapist (RMT) helping people recover what they consider sexual abuse that had been repressed. Parents and others were sued based upon these hypnotically induced memories. Many RMT had an agenda to find memories of abuse and if none existed to produce them in the minds of their clients.
